characters that you think would be good for the roles that you will chose...

If I were to pick the cast for TKAM it would be defiantly very hard. One Character I would chose to play Atticus is Mathew Mcconaughey. I would pick him because I feel like he can deliver that strong attitude that will help him be powerful in the court scene which is a very dramatic scene. He has been in a previous production where he is a lawyer thus giving me the inspiration the cast him as the lawyer (Atticus). When I picture Atticus I picture this tall slim man who has this very powerful voice and I feel like he fits the bill.

Another Character that I chose to pick the actor of is Calpurnia. I feel like a good actress to play Calpurnia would be Octavia Spencer. The reason why I picked her is because of her previous role in the movie "The Help". In her previous role she played a maid which I believe is similar to Calpurnia. I chose her because in the movie she is very sassy and gives very good lessons and one of the scenes that I feel she would do very well in is when Calpurnia takes the children to go to church. In conclusion I feel like Octavia Spencer would do really well as the character of Calpurnia.

My final actor that I would chose would be for the character Boo. I think a character that I would like to have play Boo is Johnny Depp. I would pick Johnny

Johnny Depp because in some movies such as "Alice in Wonderland" when Johnny Deep played the creepy  Mad Hatter.  In the Book the children describe Boo to be very creepy and I think Johny Deep can do that wonderful. Later on in the book we see the real truth about Boo and judging from Johnny Deep's prior movies I know he can play a nice kindhearted person such as Edward Scissorhands.

Tkam- Charecter relationships

I will juxtapose Aunt Alexandra and Atticus.

       
  Some similarities between Aunt Alexandra and Atticus is how they both somewhat want the best for the children. In the book the children are taught to read and also write in cursive at a very young age. I believe that this helps show the connection to Aunt Alexandra because what she wants to do is be the Female that Scout can look up to. I think that both of the characters don't really have a lot in common with each other because in the book the two characters seem to clash with each other a bit.

          Some differences that the characters have are is how Atticus a lot less racist then how Aunt Alexandra is. In the book Atticus teaches the kids how being different is a good thing and how to not judge people by there appearance. In lieu Aunt Alexandra is more ruthless and only cares about what she things instead of what others think. In the book she judges Calpurnia for the way that she looks and acts.

          Atticus has a very interesting relationship with Scout in the book they both enjoy each-others company however can sometimes bump heads however its like any other family relationship. The relationship that Scout has with Aunt Alexandra is defiantly more negative. In the book Aunt Alexandra is very demanding and I don't think that Scout likes her because she describes her like Mount Everest, cold and there.

          The effects that Aunt Alexandra has made on Scout are more negative. So far in the book Aunt Alexandra has slowly been striping the children away there freedom. I believe this because in the book when Scout and Jem wan't to go visit Calpurnia Aunt Alexandra immediately says no in a rude way thus leaving me to believe that Scout doesn't really like her. Atticus has left more of a positive effect on Scout. Atticus cares more for Scout mainly because that's his daughter and because she is the youngest. In the book Atticus gives Scout more freedom and advocates that she goes and explore and have fun and isn't as strict as Aunt  Alexandra.

TKAM Setting Blog

Prompt: You will be selecting a photograph that represents your idea of Maycomb, AL based on Harper Lee’s description.

Incorporating the different criteria from the Visual Literacy Guide, write a thoughtful, thorough, and well constructed response relating the photograph to Maycomb, AL.

In the photo I chose I can observe a number of different things that remind me of the books description of Maycomb. One of the things that I observe from the photo is a damaged building. This reminds me of the town Maycomb because in the book it says "Maycomb was an old town, but it was a tired old town when I knew it." (P.6). I believe that this quote helps represents Maycomb because this town in the photo looks a bit old in my opinion.! I belong eve this because on the side of the building you can see like warn out stains etc. In the picture I can also see a Coca-Cola sign in the back so by seeing this I can infer that this is almost like downtown. In the book it says "Go and eat downtown today" (P.25) based on this quote I can almost picture Walter running down this place to eat where the Coca-Cola sign is.

I think that this photo was made possibly for advertisement. I think this because in the photo they are taking pictures of possibly "main attractions" or the local areas to eat at. I believe that the audience that this photo was mainly targeted for is basically everyone because anyone can move anywhere if they really need to. If someone were to recreate this photo today I feel like there will obviously much more color in the photo. I think that there would also be new cars and people dressed in more modern clothing.

One question that I had from looking at the photo was what is Grady Lawless and Co. I think that this could be where Atticus might have worked at. I believe this because from our previous knowledge we know how Scout's father was a lawyer. This was one of the reasons why I picked this location. Another question that I also have is why is everyone in the photo African American. I understand how this was in the south however why aren't their any caucasian people in the photo.

Theme Development Blog...

Theme Blog- Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie 
Propmt:Your blog for your 40 Book Challenge this week will focus on theme. You will need to determine a theme and analyze its development throughout the novel. By looking closely at character's actions, the setting, plot events, and/or the conflict, you can identify clues that are written by the author to help teach you (the reader) a message about life or human nature. Start first by looking at your 'Universal Theme' sheet to help you get started.

          The book Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie, by Jordan Sonnenblick is a book that conveys many themes throughout the book however one that is major is family comes first. I believe that this is one of the themes in the book because in the book Steven (the main character) is faced to deal with his brothers medical issue (leukemia). In the book Steven now has his brother in the back of his mind because he feels like it's his fault however Jeffery his brother has been diagnosed with this disease before hand. In conclusion Steven actually helped because if it wasn't for him his parents wouldn't have known about it. There are many ways that the author tells this theme to us, "The longer I pretended like everything was normal at school, the more I believed everything was normal." (P.52).  I believe that this quote helps represent how family always comes first is because he was constantly worried on how his brother Jeffery was/is doing. 

          Another theme that I find important in the book is neglect. I find this quote important because in the book the parents seem to be in their own world. In the book the mother says, how could she not realize her poor baby was limping all this time. I also believe this is important because in the book the character Steven is longing for contact with his father. His mother has now left with Jeffery to go see a doctor leaving Steven and his father in a house alone. Steven says in the book "Dad, how about sometime this week, just for kicks, you try making eye contact with me." (P. 58). I find this important because in the book Steven has no way to let out his emotions besides drumming and because of this thats the only way he can vent. I think that this is sort of unhealthy because Steven and his father should be able to talk about important things like his brother having Leukemia and reassuring Steven that it will all be okay.

8th grade first quarter reflection

          In my 40 book challenge I think I am doing pretty well so far I have read 5 books. Most of the books that I read are mainly realistic fiction. Some books that I'm excited to read this year are To kill a Mockingbird and also Allegant. I think that I am personally doing good for the start of the year. Of course I will still have to read over winter break but I hope to get at least two books done over that time.

          I think that my blogs are slowly getting better but I don't think I've made a huge improvement from the beginning of the year. I think this because I still use some of the same words that I used however I hope that later on throughout the year that I start to incorporate some of the vocabulary that I will learn. I personally think that my writing is pretty good and I am personally proud of that. I believe that made a huge growth from last year to this year so I hope to do so this year.

       
          Some strategies that have helped me is studying a lot. I study my vocab starting on Wednesday every week and study everyday for atleast about a 20 minutes. I feel like this has helped me because I have been receiving for my vocab mostly four's. I've only gotten one three and I think that it was because I was off a point or two but I do think that my strategy has worked. Another strategy that I use is using quizlet to study. This personally has helped me memorize words and it works better in my opinion then just looking at your words.

          One of the main things I learned about the world is about the Syrian refugee crisis. I think that this is important because people are risking about their lives to just have a new start. Lots of people have died trying to seek refuge and doing so isn't east. People will do about almost anything to have a new start and I found this very powerful because it shows us how easy we have it. I personally think that it's sad how people are being deprieved their life because of war and I think that this is wrong.

          I think that my research skills have improved a bit. I believe this because now I check multiple websites to see if the information that I am gathering is not only relevant but also is reliable. I think that my skills in researching have also improved because now I synthesize what I've learned and then soon start to transform that into my body paragraphs. I think that my work has improved a bit and I am proud of where I am now versus where I was a year ago. In conclusion I feel like I have not only grown academically and as a person

"Drums Girls And Dangerous Pie" Week 10/14

Prompt: Are the characters realistic (do they seem like they could be real people)? Why

or why not?

          In the book Drums, girls + dangerous pie the main character (Steven) is faced with many problems. One of the problems that Steven has to deal with issue little brother named Jeffery. His little brother always is the main attention for his family and when he gets sick Steven's world will no longer be the same. In the book on the back cover the book says "But when Jeffery gets sick Steven's world is turned upside down, and he is forced to deal with his brother's illness, his parents' attempts to keep the family in one piece, his homework, the band, girls, and Dangerous Pie..." because of this the reader can now infer how Steven is facing reality and is at a point in his life where him and his family are struggling.

          I believe that the characters in the book are realistic because the characters in the book are facing a struggle. The characters being Steven and Jeffery are mainly the main characters of the book. In the book Jeffery is always embarrassing the character Steven, I'm choosing to point this out because I personally have been embarrassed before and I can relate to this. I think the characters are also realistic because in the book their is no mythical creatures or events happening in the book thus leaving me to conclude that the characters are realistic along with the events.

          In conclusion I believe that the characters are realistic. I finally believe that they are realistic because everyone in the word is forced to deal with struggle. Sometimes you may struggle from simple things like picking a shirt to wear to having to chose to move or no. Struggles vary from minor to major and I think that Steven struggling in the book is realistic because everyone struggles. The character Steven doesn't have magic and is not spiderman leaving me to conclude that this book is realistic fiction making the characters realistic.

Obaa comparison to AOW 9/24/15

          Both the book "Of Beetles and Angels" and the article "Google pledges millions to match refugee crisis donations" speak about the crisis which is about refugees and their struggle to seek a new/better future. In the article the point of view is from the authors point of view. The article I had is mainly informative and does not speak of anyone except for companies. I know this because in the article it says "Here is a list of some of the other firms that have offered  to help as Europe struggles to accept hundreds of thousands of refugees and migrants from the Middle East and North America." This quote to me helps identify that there will be a struggle and hopefully all will be fixed.

          Someone that connects in both the book and the article is Beth (Mercy corps) in the book it says "Bethel went to work immediately on finding us an affordable home...". To me this is very interesting because I was able to connect it with a quote in my article which says "The money will be given to the international rescue committee and mercy corps.". The quote helps indicate how the Mercy corps do help almost like how Beth helps Mawi. I believe that because of this Mawi was able to grow from this (clearly) however he did face some challenges in his past and that has shaped him to be who he is today.

          One of the ideas that keeps coming up in my head when I think of Mawi is Kindness and determination. I think that these things were essential in Mawi's life because Mawi is a very kind persona and a very determined person considering how he was able to go to graduate from Harvard. In the book Mawi's father says to him "But if you our children work hard at school and finish the university, maybe someday you can help your-selves and help your family to.". To me this quote is very powerful because in the article it says ""Google is the latest company to make a grand gesture to help with the refugee crisis.". To me this quote helps identify to the reader that they are determined almost like Mawi. In conclusion I believe that there are some similarities in things so different from each-other.

          In the gallery walk we were able to learn from each-others articles. The topic of everyones article mainly focused on refugees at any point of time, because of this everyones article was for the most part different. War was mainly the reason of this all happening. War is a very tough time and can affect people in multiple ways. One way that war can affect people is maybe one of their family members die etc. It really in general is a very sad time however we can learn from it. In the book "Of Betels and angles" Mawi goes through a very rough childhood and he was able to still grow from that rough child hood and make a better impact on the world.

"Breaking dawn" Summer blog #4

Prompt: Pick three pictures that represent your reading. Write a paragraph for each, telling what each item says about what each item says about what you've been reading.

          The book "Breaking dawn" is a very complex book with a lot of emotions. I think that one picture that helps describe Bella's love for her child is a clock. I chose this item because in the book Bella is faced with only so much time with Renesmee because she is growing up extremely fast. I think that this would honestly suck for  Bella because she doesn't get to enjoy time with her as much because before she knows it Renesmee will be all grown up.

           The next picture that I would chose is a picture of Loyalty. I would chose this item because in the book Bella had told Jacob that she didn't like him like how she likes Edward and still Jacob stood by her side in the "war". I think that this can also relate to some other people like there relatives from around the world because they came to help defend them also. I believe that most people have loyalty and if they do they are most likely a good friend. In this situation Jacob is a very good friend because he cares for Bella which I honestly think is really sweet.

          The last picture that I chose helps describe how Bella now has a whole new life. The picture is an infinity sign because Bella and Edward's love will last forever considering that they cant die really. I think that this can also resemble how Bella will always love her daughter and how she will always protect her even if she may not be with her. I highly recommend this book to anybody who would like to have a romantic adventurous book.

Breaking dawn Summer Blog #3

Book: Breaking dawn

Prompt: Pretend you get to make the music soundtrack for what you've been reading. What three songs would you include? Write why you chose the song and how it connects to what you are reading.

          In the book "Breaking dawn" when Bella first wakes up I think that the song that I would include is the song called "Crazy". This song is a cover on the original version and this version is a bit darker which I think fits. I think this song would fit because she is wondering what is going on and she is just overflowing with emotions which anybody would feel like if they just gave birth to a child while being changed into a vampire. In case you are interested in the song, this song was sung by Daniela Andrade.


          The next song that I would chose is "My favorite faded fantasy". I would chose this song because Bella is adjusting to her new body and is growing and having to basically live her life all over again and learn how to walk different etc. I think that Bella is a  very strong person who can take about anything and is driven to protect her family no matter what. Bella is a very self reliant person but feels empty without Edward which I learned in previous books. In case you are interested in this song it is by "Damien Rice".

          The final song that I chose was "Young and Beautiful" I chose this song because in the book Bella needs to build up the confidence up for herself with Edward because of her new image. I also chose this song because it describes how Bella knows how Edward will still love her because they have an unbreakable love which I really like. The song is sung by Lana Del Rey and I really like this song because it has a nice beat and I love Lana Del Rey's voice and type of music. I recommend this song and this book because there is a lot of music that can go into this book and it is a very dark book.

The Help Blog #2

Prompt: Do you like what you're reading? Why or why not?

          I personally think that the book "The Help" is one of the best books I have probably read. I think this because the book was filled with excitement and it was also filled with a ton of risks. The book was very sad at the end and made me cry but it was still very good. The reason why I cried was because Abilene had gotten fired because Hilly wanted to be rude. Abilene had this very strong relationship with her boss's daughter and when Abilene got fired the daughter started crying and then everyone felt bad except for Hilly of course. Therefore because of this I feel like the book was amazing because you wouldn't expect that because everyone ended off happy accept of Abilene who soon retired.

          The book "The Help" I think was also good because the book didn't end happy for all and made you sentimental which really made me like the book. In the end of the book "Skeeter" ends up moving on with her life and went to go pursue her dream. To know that they told us this first really made the story end well for her. "Minny Jackson" ended her story well as well because Celia told her husband about her being her maid and he was cool about it and then Celia made a big feast for them all to enjoy. I liked this because it shows how not all people were ruthless at the time.

          I finally liked this book because the movie was exactly the same minus some things but mainly the whole story line was the same. I think that the casting for the movie was amazing and almost what I envisioned. The characters were right on of what I mostly envisioned however I expected the setting to be a bit more green and not have as much dirt. I think that it was cool to see it all play off and how the characters actually looked. I definitely would recommend this book to any person who likes realistic books.

"The Help" Blog #1

Book: The Help

Prompt: "What emotions do you feel about your reading? Describe what is going on in the reading that makes you feel that way?"

          The book "The Help" is a very realistic novel. At the time "1963" segregation was still going on and that was a very sad time, thus the feelings puts the reader in a very gloomy mood. In the book people like Minny get treated really bad by their boss. When Hilly wanted to make bathrooms for the maids the maids felt bad because why couldn't they be treated the same. Because of this when it was raining really bad Minny had to use the bathroom inside instead of having to go outside however Hilly was felling ruthless and forced Minny to go outside. Minny of course being the feisty girl that she is disobeyed her boss and went to the bathroom inside. Later on Hilly soon finds out and then fires Minny which really hurt me because Minny should be respected and for Hilly to not show respect honestly is very rude and makes the reader almost feel bad.

          Another emotion that I had encountered throughout the book is happiness. I encountered this feeling when Minny took Celia under her wing and helped her when she was in need. Minny taught
Celia how to cook and helped prepare herself for when she has her child. One of the things that I personally think represents their friendship is a giant chicken wing. I think this because in the book Minny exactly taught Celia how to make some of her food. The food that Minny makes is told to be very delicious.

          The last emotion that I encountered so far in the book was seriousness. The reason why I felt this way was because it was a serious time considering that segregation was amongst them. The fact it had ended in the year of 1964 worries me because that wasn't so far ago. People like Aibileen were treated very harsh and rough and I think that no one deserves to feel this way because it can have a serious effect on someones thinking/felling. Aibileen had lost her son which already is a serious matter.

Top three books that I would like to read over the summer!!!

The first book that I want to read over the summer is a book called Paper Towns. I would want to read

this book because my friend recomended it and she told me a short summary of the book while not spoiling. I think I will enjoy this book and I will let you know how the book is before the the movie comes out. I will do this because the book is always better then the movie in my oppinion.                     

The next book that I hope to read is called Pride and Prejudice. I hope to read this book because by doing so I will be increassing hopefully my lexile score. This book is very complex and it looks very intersting. I will hopefully be doing a blog on this book and if I do then you should really look out for that!

The last book that I hope to read is called Perks of being a wallflower. I want to read this book last because it seems very good because everyone has been reading it. I would also want to read this book because I have seen the movie trailer and it had me wondering.

"Paradox and dream" reflection

Paradox: "We proudly insist that we base our political positions on the issues - and we will vote against a man because of his religion, his name, or shape of his nose."

          This quote means how we as humans are quick to judge because of a person appearance or attitude. This is bad because some old man can look calm and kind when really he loves heavy metal. I think that we as humans are quick to judge and thats terrible and in our society it still happens to this day. I think that sometimes we are right and sometimes we may be wrong because if you see a woman wearing a nice pink shirt and some jeans you would think it was a kind girl and she may be but she also might not be for apperances can be decieving.

          I can relate to this because I use to be very judgmental and say he he's weird I don't want to be his friend if he likes cars when really me and him can have similar interest. One of my friends use to be an outcast and I started to play games with him and me and him would have so much fun that one day we became best friends and I still to this day am friends with this outcast and I am proud to say that he is my friend. Sometimes I judge people but the way someone dresses or just there body language and I can tell sort of who they are when really I am wrong because I don't know there past or future.

Paradox: "We are able to believe that our government is weak, stupid, overbearing, dishonest, inefficient, and at the same time we are deeply convinced that it is the best government in the world, and we would like to impose it upon everyone else

          This quote is talking about how we always say our government sucks when really we have the best government. If we were to look at other nations and there government we can clearly see their faults. Our government is very good because if we look at others we can see how the people have their lives when we have better lives. I think this because I've read multiple articles about things going on with ISIS and how the citizens are treated.

          This quote relates to me because my mom is always saying how our government sucks and I always have to tell her how it is better however we have our faults and as humans we make mistakes. I think that our society is worse than our government because now we have seven year olds with I phones and thats our society but we can try to change that. I think that the government has some problems because sometimes they do bad things like watch us with drones etc.

9- What advice would you give students who will be in this class next year?

The three most important things that I have learned this year are how to do blogs, how to research, and I also learned new complex words. I think that these are important because learning to do blogs are an important tool because doing blogs is almost like a new way to communicate. I believe that learning how to research is an important tool because if we don't know some information then we have to help justify our answers with research. I finally think that learning new complex words is an important tool because if I ever talk to someone then I can impress them with my good choice of diction and look as if I am well spoken.

I think that something I will remember from this year for the rest of my life is how I was accepted into this group and how I fell like I am finally one of the other students because this class is merged with 7A and 7B. I think that I will remember this for the rest of my life because sometimes you may not feel accepted but in time you will. The people in the class are very nice and have a great positive attitude and I think that this made it easier to adapt.

The nicest thing that someone did for me this year was probably help me adapt and in my first day there Siari sat next to me and she was telling me what to do for homework because at first it was hard to adapt but now I have adapted. The homework was honestly hard to adapt to because  the work required a lot of thinking and in the end it was just my time management that had changed.

Something that I have taught a student is how to start using a schedule of when to do your homework. I taught them this because some times it is hard to go off by all of your daily routines. I think that it is hard to go off by your schedule but it does help with scheduling.

The area that I made the biggest improvement in is my blogs because now when I do my blogs I now involve photos and detail. I hope that my blogs improve in time because my blogs will then hopefully be developed and my blogs will have been longer. I think that my blogs could improve still because sometimes I forget to comment on blogs and sometimes I do not reply to the comments that get posted on my blogs.

The most challenging part of this year was my first week of the class and I think this because the time management was very tough because at first we wouldn't get as much homework and then I get in and I get blogs, aow's, and vocabulary words. I think that it was tough however I am now adapted and now I am use to all of the work and now when we get extra work I can now adapt easier.

I think that the best piece of writing I made this year was probably my blog about how dreams can be crushed because I added multiple photos and it can relate to people. I think that the best part of the blog was because sometimes I get inspired form movies or books or just photos and it just inspires me to create material that helps relate to multiple people.

Of the books I've read this year my favorite book was the book called "Looking for Alaska" I liked this book because it is very realistic and it help shows how temptation can lead to disaster. I would recommend this book because it is pretty large and has a lot of detail. I did a blog on this book and if you would like you can check the blog out and also you can check out the book at a local library near you.

Next year some advice from me to a student next year is to always be flexible and always have time management. I think this because the homework she gives sometimes can be very tough and you have to be mindful because the homework can be tricky. I think that the people are very nice and the teacher is very kind and she understands but she expects high quality work so if you do your part she will do her part. Some of the fun things that we do in the class are like we have parties but thats only if you do your own work.

Something that symbolizes me...

          Something that symbolizes me is a blank piece of paper and a pencil. I chose this because a blank piece of paper has so much potential and can be anything you want. I think that this relates to me because I am a very determined person and I have a ton of goals. My future is unlimited and I can be anything I want as long as I put my mind to it. If I do so then that blank piece of paper will then soon be transformed into something wonderful. This also relates to the pencil because if I do the right things to better my future I will then be able to start putting that into plan and start creating a future me.

Of Mice and Men: The Movie

Blog of 11-15

Prompt: In the film, the director shows us “the incident in Weed” differently from how we find out in the book. What’s different? Why do you think he chose to do it that way? How does it change the story?

The book begins with the “stage” set by the pond. In the film, we see George on a train first. Why would the director do this? What is the director telling us about George’s life?

What do you think of the director’s choice of Sharilynn Fenn to play Curley’s wife? Does she look the way you imagined her in the book? Whom would you have chosen?

          I think that the director told us about the incident in weed differently because in the book it got brought up in a conversation while the movie started off with it. I think that the point that the director was trying to get through was how your past can follow you because in the movie it gets brought up multiple times. I think that the director was trying to let us know what happened before because the incident is what brought them to where they are now.

          I think that the director would do this because it helps to show how everything you do can follow you. I think that it helps to show the ambiance and because in a book you can't tell all things but if you see it you can know what is going on with every little detail. I think that the director was making a bold choice because by doing so he was sort of messing with the plot but not completly. In conclusion I believe that he was trying to tell the story but still try to keep it myseterious.

          I believe that I did not like the choice of Curley's wife because she wasn't what I invisioned. I think that Curleys wife should have been a blonde person and I think that someone who would have been perfect for the role would have been Kristen Chenowlth. I think this because she has blonde hair and is a very fun person. I have viewed multiple productions with Kristen and usually she plays a niaeve person and I think that she would have been a better fit. I liked the other girl (Sharilynn Fenn) however she was not what I invisioned.

          In conclusion I believe that the book was really good. The reasons why I liked this book are because the book was very short but yet very well written. The book was short at the point that in the movie the director was able to inlcude most of the scenes and some extra. Another reason why I think this book was well written because I was able to tell what all the words were. I also think that this book was well written because in the book they used words that made you feel like you were actually there.

          Throughout the gallery walk I viewed many interesting articles, some of which multiple people did. Some of the articles that were mentioned a bit were articles about the riot in baltimore and the earthquake. I think that people mainly picked these articles because it is a huge thing that is going on and you can talk about the negative impacts. Not all of the articles focused on this subject but there were also very intereting articles such as articles about florine and an article abour google soon releasing wifi for the phone.

          I think that someone with a very interesting article was Jared A. I think this because her article was about how google is releasing  a project called "Project Fi". I think that her article was interesting because there working on it for not only google products but there also teaming up with apple and others to make sure that it works for all phones. This project is already partnered with Sprint and TMobile. This project will not only give your phone free wifi but also it will prevent hakers from hacking into your phone.

          Another article that I found to be interesting was an article called "Feds say it's time to cut back on floride in drinking water". The person that informed me about this article was Giovanna G. I found this article to be intersting because floride can be found in many things like mouthwash and toothpaste. I was recently infromaed through this article that floride was in our water. "The department of health and human services recommended 0.7 milligrams of floride per liter of water instead of the long -standing range of 0.7 to 1.2 milligrams. The amount of floride has the risk for health issues including throid problems.

Of Mice and Men blog for week of 4/27-1/15

                    The book "Of Mice and Men" is a book about two men named Lennie and George. The two boys seems to be running into a ton of trouble and not only them but other charecters that are introduced. Some problems that are intoduced are the fact that Lennie and Curley got into a fight. Now this can be interpreted multiple ways but Lennie doesn't want trouble and Curley seems to be always wanting to get in a fight. Curley is a minor charecter and doesn't really say much but he sets up the plot line and is the reason why the book is the way it is.

                   Another conflict that there is in the book is how Candy now has to deal with the fact that his dog is now dead. I know you may be thinking he is just a dog but Candy has been with this dog his whole life. The worse part about this is how he didn't even get to say a official goodbye he just had to deal with the fact that his dog is now dead. I think that Candy plays a big part because he is almost in every section in the book and does talk a lot and is very wise.
       
                   In conclusion my last conflict is the fact that Lennie likes Curley's wife and I think this is a problem because Curley doesn't like Lennie and if he were to fing out then there would be even more conflict and there already is a ton. I think that Curley at this point in the book regrets his past acetions because I don't want to spoil but he's going to wish he never did something. I highly suggest you read this book because it is very short but has a very high choice of diction and this book all togetehr is just amazing.

Of Mice and Men

           Prompt:Describe the atmosphere of the ranch and bunkhouse. Be sure to include characteristics of different characters that were formally or informally introduced to us in this chapter. Support your choice with textual evidence and interpretation.Why doesn't Curley's wife have a name?   What message, if anything, is John Steinbeck  trying to send by not giving her a first name?  Support your choice with textual evidence and interpretation.

          I think that the atompshere in the ranch and bunkhouse is somehwat a bit more negative. I think this because in the book Curley has problems with Lennie and I feel like that is going to cause more problems. The reason why I believe this is because in the book it says "Curley's like a alot of little guys. He hates big guys." (P.26) This helps show that there will be problems because Lennie is a big man and Curley hates big people so I feel like this will definently add some tention between them.

          I think that the author doesn't impliment Curly's wife's name because maybe she has done some bad stuff in her past and possibly doesn't want aanyone to identify her as that person. I think this because she was very playful as she was talking to Lennie and George on page 31. I think that possibly she may be someone that Lennie may already know and that maybe Lennie  knows her and possibly have a connection with each-other. I know this sound crazy but it's just a hypothesis that I have generated from the text so far.

          The words I chose are based on the charecter Violet Bauldieliere and I am describing her from the book called A Serries of Unfortunate Events. I chose these words because in the book Violet Bauldieliere is avery smart consciencous person has a very intresting charecter. In the book they describe the charecter more shy but I believe that there is more to the picture of her because as you read on in the seriese you see a different personality in her.

          One of the words that I am glad I chose was open minded and I'm glad I chose this word because in the series she is faced with more than one problem and she is open inded to try and find a soloution. I think that I wish  I had her charecteristics and interest  because she seem's like she is willing to go through whatever to find peace and that has took her a while so far.

          In conclusion I think that Violet would be a very nice person and I think that the words I chose were highly acccurate. The book is very intresting and I think that Violet will hopefully find her happiness in the book. However she is devoloping throughout the series some of the words may or may not be 100% accurate. I think that in the end she will find peace but I am yet to find out.

Poetry Reflection

   

      Poetry honestly plays a huge part in my life and this is because Poetry can help explain feelings that words cannot. I believe this because sometimes in life you might run into a big situation and sometimes what helps is writing down how you feel. For me this is what I do, I write poetry when I am felling down and it helps me a lot. Poetry will honestly always have a special place in my heart because it will always be there when no one will be. Sometimes I wonder if my feeling for poetry is strange but honestly it isn't because poetry is on of my main escapes. Some people escapes may be sports or painting but mine is poetry.

          I think that poetry relates to everyone because poetry is very diverse meaning that there are a whole bunch of different types and some with different subjects. Poetry is like America, very diverse in so many ways. I think that if people were to look at poetry then they would maybe find one that they would enjoy because everyone can connect to almost everything as long as they put their mind into it. I think this because from my personal experiences I was not at all athletic in sports but I found a sport that I enjoy to play and that is Volleyball. What I am trying to say with this is that for a person who is not very athletic they can still be able to find something that they enjoy about that. In conclusion I believe that everyone can connect to poetry.  

          The life and experiences affect the poets writing because just like Edgar Allen Poe he had a rough childhood and that affected his writing because his writing was very depressing and scary. I think that not only his writing was affected but like I said above on paragraph one that sometimes it is really easy to let your emotions slip out onto your writing or paper. Most of my poems are dark because I was really inspired by Edgar Allen Poe on his writing and I like making writing that is dramatic. In conclusion I believe that every writer is affect by their past.

"The magic in the forest"

Two weeks earlier expecting to change her mind waved good-bye out of sight

she saw the open envelope. "Old friend, I'm getting scared. Were going to get kicked out of this house, sure you left. I'm ashamed my darling. Mother pretends she doesn't know, but she does."

          This poem is about how a girl is alone and now is receiving a letter from an old friend who is in need for desperate help. The design is supposed to look crazy and messy, almost like her life considering that everyone in her life has walked out on her. (The reason why I wrote the poem out was because it is hard to see it through a photo and it is easier to comprehend in person.) The girl is alone and is lost in her own thoughts that seem to be consuming her every second. When I was making this poem I tried making a poem that was dark and a bit scary and I hope I have achieved that.

"The girl who could fly between shades of gray into the wild beautiful creatures crossed."

          This poem is suppose to show peacefulness and the girl who is flying is finding peace in the woods discovering new things never seen before. I made this to show people that there is always peacefulness no matter what and that one day something positive may come out of something negative. "beautiful creatures crossed" means that creatures are coming together making something positive. This helps explain why it says "beautiful creature". When stuff comes together to make one it is sometimes beautiful and in this case it is.

3rd Quarter Blog Reflective

          This quarter has been a very crazy one because we've had a ton of testing and on that homework and extra circular activities! Out of the books that I have read this quarter my favorite book that I have read would have to be the book "Schooled. I think this because throughout the book you see different perspectives from different people. I think the area in lit/la that I had a huge improvement was with my choice of diction. I think this because for example instead of using words like confused I now use words like discombobulated or befuddled. Something that I have accomplished this new year was finally having a huge role in the musical called "Bugsy Malone". Now in the musical I do not have a lot of dialogue but I do have my own solo song and in that song I need to pronounce the word very loud and dramatic.

          In the 40 book challenge I am pretty far I believe I am at 23 books and counting. To meet the 40 book requirement I will start reading two books at a time. The most challenging part of the 3rd quarter was probably managing a bunch of clubs with schoolwork. I think this because I was booked solid with extra circular activities and on top of that I had to manage doing homework which was very difficult but manageable. I think that my blogs are definitely improving because of the length of my writing and the choice of diction is good.

          Some strategies that have been beneficial to me is studying on quizlet. This quarter was really crazy and I ended up studying everything on quizlet because it is really good and easy to use. In the world I have learned that sometimes people aren't the nicest and that sometimes that may need a hand and we need to offer them that hand. My research skills have improved a lot from researching background knowledge for our AOW'S that we receive mostly every week. I think that this quarter will definitely be one to remember and I look forward for more quarters that come our way.

No one ever accepted me and I was left with a decision. Should I stay or should I leave. I was always alone and always put to the side. My mother had left me and my father had passed, and I was left alone with no one. I wish people would know how I feel but every-time that I try to speak up I get silenced. “Tick tock” it was now 12 o'clock and I was up staring at myself in the mirror. Why me? Why did I have to be left alone in this world with no sense of guidance or hope.

I always wanted a child hood like my “friends”. They would always went on family trips and had family dinners and I was left alone watching from the windowpane wishing that was me and my family dining. I have always been bewildered about how my father had died. Sometimes I wish my mother would talk to me but she had left me alone in a house abandoned by the age of 6. I had to raise myself ever since, and since then I’ve been asking myself should I stay or leave?

“Tick tock” it is now 3 am and I am still thinking and wondering where my life is headed. I think I should leave because maybe then I’ll be able to restart my life and start fresh on a new page. It wasn’t until I had left I then saw a note on on the porch. I read it and it said “Dear Jacob, I miss you and I want you to know that I am sorry.” I then stood up and took a breath of relief and walked out and that was the end.
