MockingJay Week of 12.15.14

Prompt:• Describe the major conflict. What side are you on?

            The major conflict in the story is how president Snow is keeping Peta as captive to keep Kattnis mad. In my opinion I think that Kattnis and Peta were really cute for each other but the only problem is that Kattnis like's Gale but I hope it isn't like that for the rest of the book because even though Kattnis tries to act as if she doesn't like him, deep inside she know's he's the one for her.

           Another main problem in the story is how President Snow and Kattnis are basically at war with each other at the moment. Right now Snow is bombing this district and Kattnis at the moment has just shot down one of the Plane's which has made a chain reaction causing other planes to fall as well. I think that the author is making us have mixed emotions about Gale because it would make it more interesting but I also think that Gale should stop interfering with them.

           I really feel like Kattnis and Peta will get together in the end of the book but I am still to read and find out more information on this love triangle. I will continue reading this book and I am going to start reading extra now and I will be done with the book by next week, I may not be able to bring home my laptop from school but I will use my home computer and will keep you updated.

Prompt:Predict what will happen next

            So far in the book Katniss has visited a district and is in a hospital with people who are wounded and or dead. Next time I open the book I predict that Katniss is going to take most of the wounded people to their base which is a lot safer. To me I think this because knowing Katniss she is a very nice person. When Rue died in the first book she cried and she was very sentimental about that and I think that will happen because she probably most likely isn't going to stand around letting them die.

               I also think that there will be some type of war between Katniss and Snow because Snow has been taunting her for a while and knowing him he probably is very furious about her blowing up the dome in the second book. Katniss is lucky that she got saved and got that medical attention because if that didn't happen than she would probably be dead.

              I also think that Petta has gone bad because he's standing side by side with Snow and to me that symbolizes that maybe he has gone to the dark side. I think this because of the photo, although these photos are from the movie, I shouldn't be accosiating the movie with the book becuaue the book is my main sorce but my friends have told me that the movie is just like the book so I am assuming that something like this photo will be described in the book

Mocking-jay By Suzanne Collins 

Prompt: List the reasons why another person should or should not read this.Pages read: 0-65

         One reason why someone should read this book is because this book is full of adventure and action! I believe that this book not only is full of action but it is also very descriptive like how at the begging of the book it describes her standing in the ashes of her ounce known home. The Hunger Games changed Katnis and I think it just made her stronger, she entered for her sister and now she has seen so much blood fall and so many people die.

         I also believe that people should read this book because in a way it is pretty sentimental and sort of sad because in the beginning of the book it says how Peeta is now missing/dead and I find that really tragic because in the other books Katnis and Peeta had always had this really good friendship and knowing that it is Katnis's fault because she had killed Peeta while the arena collapsed.

         I also think that you should read this book because the book itself is sort of nasty and by nasty I mean that the book is sort of scary because in chapter one it describes how she has to walk on the remains of the people that had been killed because of what she had done in the arena. Because of this I really feel bad for her because she didn't do that intentionally knowing that it would kill a lot of her home. In conclusion I believe that this book is really good and I can't wait to open the book again and to see what's in store for me.

                           I personally love the book that I am reading because it is exciting and adventurous and it has so many different vibes to it. I think that this book is honestly perfect for teens and young adults because it talks about things that real people face in life. In a way and not to be rude but it makes you feel less bad about yourself and you say "wow I now know that I don't have a hard life, other people have it worse than me."

                         To me The Fault In Our Stars is a bit adventurous, sad, love, relatable and amazing. I think this because in the book people are so cool because there more lose and open to new situations and don't really look at the negative problems that may happen but more of the positives. I like how the book also consist of a sort of hard to get love but I honestly think that, that is cute.

                          In conclusion the book has been very good so far and by that being I will still stride to finish this decently sized book. I also will continue to try to encourage people to read this book because this book is fabulously written and words can't describe my state of emotion for the characters. I will finish the book by next week.

Chapters 3-5

                         The book I'm reading is The Fault In Our Stars. To me the book has a lot of interesting word choice, this book has some of  inappropriate parts "I had a few good kisses with my ex-girlfriend, Caroline Mathers" To me this shows that Agustus has a flirtatious side. I think that Augustus is going to date Hazel Grace.        

                        The book is really interesting in fact I love how the book interoperates fowl language, I honestly don't want to get in-trouble so Im not going to give a quote for that. I love how the author adds a relationship with two sick people it makes me feel bad and I just really want to cry because if someone dies I will burst out into tears. I want Augustus and Hazel to just date already because they flirt way to much for me "Maybe okay will be our forever" That is the cutest thing ever because it identifies their love/compassion for each-other because they are both about 16/17 and teen love books are amazing.

                         In conclusion I believe the book is amazing so far, I love the book and I am looking forward to finishing the book. I hope that Hazel and Augustus date and I think they would be so cute together.

Reflection on Poe

         

             Before I starting learning about Edgar Allan Poe I knew nothing about him. I now know about his life and his troubles that he faced as he progressed in life. I have to say that Edgar Allan Poe was a strong person for he had so much tragedy in his life and he still continued to write short stories etc. When Edgar Allan Poe was in his teen years he had to burn furniture to stay warm. I would be petrified to do so and I would have probably not have took action but I would have probably got as many clothes as I owned and put them all on to stay warm.

            Life in the 180's seems hard considering you could have your family betray you at any moment. Poe went to live with is family and his cousin robbed him of all his goods. To me this shows that life was hard and that it was pretty hard to trust anyone. I also think that life was hard because back then they didn't have electricity so you had to have a lantern on you 24/7. To me this shows that at one point in Poe's life he didn't have any light because if he didn't have money than how would he be able to get light.

            Life in the 20th century(now). I believe that life now is a lot more easier because of the technology etc. I believe that now you still can have your family betray you but there are more ways to prevent that such as cameras. I also think that electricity has build up so much that there is light outside and there are homeless shelters and this shows that no matter where you are in life that things can get better. In conclusion I believe that life back than was a lot harder.

           Poe's writing took affected his life because he wasn't famous but he was somewhat known by his writing. His writing was dark just like his life because he had so much misery and thus his writing was. I believe that Poe was a strong writer for he made stories when he was in one of the most darkest stages of his life. I think that Poe has influenced many authors for example Lemony Snicket and Stephen King both remind me of Poe and his twisted stories. In conclusion I believe that his writing took a big tool on his life for he had a miserable life and his writing type of genre was miserable and scary almost like his life.

             The first 3 chapters of The Fault in our Stars is about how we meet Hazel Grace and we find out she has cancer and how she is depressed. It also talks about how she goes to this place where she can see other people like her who have cancer but in another form. Hazel knows that she's going to die.

             After a few more weeks she thinks this boy named Augustus Waters and he's friends with Isac who is going to die soon. The two Augustus and Hazel both start to flirt. I predict that they will end up getting together but the thing that makes me scared is that one of them will die. Because Hazel isn't scared of dying and that's what makes me scared.

            So far I like the book, I believe I will be done with this book by next week maybe, don't quote me on that. I like this book because its different and I love John Greens books. I think that people weren't exaggerating about how good the book is because it is that good. I recommend this book so far.

Looking for Alaska #1

Looking For Alaska drawing a picture of what I just read.

I drew a picture of "Pudge" and Alaska smoking on a swing. I drew this because "And then she lit the cigaret and sucked on it so hard for so long that I thought the entire thing might burn off in one drag."(P.18)This to me identifies that Alaska loves smoking in fact she loves cigarets so much that she sells them. "Alaska had cigarets, although the Colonel neglected to ask whether 4. I smoked which 5. I didn't."(P.14) This to me identify's that "Pudge" is easy to crack under pure pressure. To me I think Alaska is sort of rebellious considering that she made a guy smoke in one day and the fact that she smokes in general. 

         I believe that Alaska could be a good person but she isn't she is more of a crazy "cool" kid and all she cares about is smoking I should say for that is the only thing that she does so far in the book. Alaska also has a bad temper which means that she can snap out of nowhere and start cussing you out. "Alaska was kind of mean to me tonight"(P.28) I also think that Alaska and "Pudge" will soon have a relationship together because she's an attractive girl by the seems of it and most of John Greens books have some type of relationship and I think that that will be "Pudge" and Alaska.

         I like this book so far and I intend on continuing reading this book for it has hooked me. I believe I will be done with this book in roughly 2 weeks. You should honestly read this book it is amazing.

The lady or the Tiger?

Every heart stopped breathing, every breath was held, every eye was fixed immovably upon that man. Without hesitation, he went to the door on the right, and opened it. As he opened the right door the man sighed in relief as he noticed that a beautiful woman was standing there. He looked back up to see if the princess was there, but she wasn't for she was very mad. She was jealous and thought there and than that her life should end so she ran to the top of a church and was ready to end her life. As she was about to end her life her lover came in yelling fair maiden were is the.She looked at him and said "I'm sorry."As she took a step off and fell off, her lover caught her and said I will always love you.

    Later on as they were preparing to get married the king had told them that they should have there marriage in the colosseum and that he will pay for everything. As they were about to get married the king gave a signal and as he did so the cages opened. Ounce they had fully opened a tiger came out. The king yelled "No one disobeys my laws!"Finally when the yelling had stopped and the two bodies were gone the king cried for he had just made the biggest mistake of his life. He had killed his daughter but it is love that will keep them together forever.So which is worse for the guy? The lady or the tiger?
