"Set me free" written by Justin Ramirez

My whole entire life I have been caged.
Wont someone save me?
I long to be free and soar high.
Will you still love me throughout  the night?
All of my thoughts and words going through my head.
I want to leave and to be free for the rest of my days and soar high.
I will always be with you.
Even when I am far away from you.
Let me go or let me flee,
For i've been longing for you to go and set me free.
Can you please forgive me?
Even though I have done so much harm.
To you and society I am just like a porcelain doll.
Fragile, and breakable I still stand.
Waiting for the moment to die again.
Twisting and turning like a merry go round.
And I am just here stuck waiting for my chance to one day be set free.
Can you save me?
I am tired of all this agony so now I sit think.
I also wait until I finally get the chance to fly free, and to leave, and to finally flee.

The Alchemyst Blog for week of 23-27

  • Prompt: Is what you are reading believable? Why or why not?
As you can tell by the tittle I have token a short hiatus from the book "Zebra Forest". I've taken a break because I feel as if I can sort of multi task by reading both books. In the book I am pretty far in to it because I had read it before and now am continuing the book. So the prompt ask's the reader that if what we are reading is believable. I think that what i am reading the current moment is unbelievable because I personally don't think magic exist and In the book there are some wizards and an evil sorcerer named Dr John Dee. He is ancient (old) and I think that him just knowing how to do magic is impossible. I honestly would love to believe that magic is real but honestly it most likely isn't. If there was I would like to think that it is more of an illusion.

Another reason why I think this book is unbelievable is because in the book Dr John Dee can control rats. I know what your thinking "Why rats and how?". If you said anything similar like this I agree with you 100%. I think that it is highly gross because Dr John Dee made a potion that would let him taste smell and even see everything that the rats were crossing. At one point the rat's had to go through an alley where there is garbage etc and some of the rats were eating it. So in the end Dr John Dee ended with bad breath and never succeeded.

In conclusion I will start doing blogs on both books and start creating longer blogs because my blogs lack with length. I think I am going to really like this book because it is interesting and I hope that you do look into this book because it is very interesting. I hope you enjoyed my blog of the week and make sure to check in next week for the awesome blogs that will come your way.

Reflection on Global Collaboration Project

Before entering 7th grade my level on global awareness was not very strong. I think what made my level go up was the Aow's that Mrs. Larson had assigned the class and I. The global collaboration project had helped me view different prospectives of different people's life and idea's. I had learned  that at the Swedish pen pal's school they are able to not wear shoes throughout the entire school.

In India there school is very strict and they also have a uniform just like us. Some of the most interesting things that I learned throughout the global collaboration project was how in Swedish they have real cooks who let them make whatever they want to eat ounce a week. Something I also found interesting was how both of the school's have a playground. I found interesting because one of the only fun things that we have in our day at school is lunch.

In conclusion I think that this global collaboration project was a success and I hope to collaborate with more people throughout my life. I think that we should have another project and that throughout the rest of the year we should collaborate more. If we were to collaborate with more people throughout the world I would want to collaborate with Spain or Italy because I find both of the places very interesting in general and I would want to see their view points in life

Zebra Forest

Prompt: What you are reading is going to become a movie. Create the movie poster.

I chose to make my movie poster like this because the setting in the book is mainly in a forest that looks like it has a zebra print on it. I chose the colors in this photo because the main character is a girl so I wanted the colors to pop just like her personality.

If you look at the greenish font you can see that it looks almost like a square and I thought that this font would look good because the book has a lot of action in it and it just looks good. The background that I chose was originally black and white and at first it was hard to find a color that would go good with this background because it has a lot of shadows, this is another reason why I chose this color.

In conclusion I would just like to say that there is not a movie for this book so I just want to make sure that no one is a bit discombobulated, but I would recommend this book to you because it is full of huge plot twist and I think that you would think that it is amazing. This book is by far my favorite book that I have read for battle of the books and I have very high expectations for the rest of this book.

Poetry Reflection

Forever
"Forever we remain oblivious to the future,
lost to the past and enduring our torture.
Forever we take chances to settle our scores,
losing some battles and winning some wars.
Forever praying out loud hoping someone will hear,
forever crying softly but never shedding a tear.
Forever exists behind a disguise,
but the belief in forever keeps our hearts alive."

This poem is by Terri Nicole Tharrington

This poem is about how you can always say that forever about something but in the end we just say that so we don't get hurt in the end. I liked this poem because it has a lot of good diction and it has a very interesting topic. I like how it helps you realize that you should always take time to realize that everything is temporary and to love what we have while we have it.

I think that some people can relate to this because some people have had a loved one lost recently and sometimes we wish that we can have that one last second with them before the die. Me personally I sometimes get scared that one of my loved one might die and I know I shouldn't think that but I sometimes just cant resist but to out of fear.

I liked this poem because I felt as if it was powerful, I know there are 1,000 other powerful poems but to me this one spoke to me (it caught my eye). I love how everyone is different and how we can look at people for different reasons. I feel as if this helps with the poem because I would want to be recognized when I am dead for something great. I want to be known and I will forever wan that throughout my life.

Blog for week 9-13

Prompt: How do you feel about this book and why?

The new book that I have just started reading is called Zebra Forest and this book is written by Adina Rishe Gewirtz and is about these kids who's dad is "dead" and how they live in this forest that is all black and white, in other words (zebra forest). I feel as if this book is going to be very interesting because by reading the back of the book it hooked me and got me very intrigued so I do have very high expectations for this book. I am expecting for there to be some huge conflict and some sort of resolution but if there is a twist than that would be just absolutely splendid. This book is exactly 200 pages long and I feel as if I will be done with this book in a week or to. I will be reading 9 pages everyday and occasionally maybe I will read more.
The diction in this book also intrigued me because it doesn't have to complex words but modest words. Here is an example of a sentence in the book  and that is "First of all, I was short and, if Gran was any indication, likely to stay that way" (P.2) As you can see from that quote I have not really gotten that far in the book and because of that I will have to read 18 pages tonight. Zebra forest seems like it is going to be filled with good diction and a good plot line. I will be finished with this book in 21 days and this has been my weekly blog.

I commented on Jared's blog,  I also commented on Giovana's blogAnd finally I also commented on Rebecca's blog

Schooled

Note:Sorry for posting the video late, the reason that it was late is because I did not have internet till today.

Written Transcript

Hello my name is Justin Ramirez and today I will be showing you the book that I have read and this book is called Schooled. This book is written by Gordon Korman and this book is realistic fiction because some of the events that happen in the book can definitely happen. The book is definitely a good book and I recommend this book because throughout the book you see different perspectives from different people and you also get to see how they see and react to a certain situation.

The setting of the book isn’t really implied but I do believe that the setting of the book is definitely in a suburb and in a farm. I think that the story takes place in the present time because they use our type of slang and they act how us teens act. The main character in the book is a boy name Capricorn Anderson. The main conflict in the book is how the boy (Capricorn Anderson) is a hippy and the bad thing is that he has been home schooled his whole life and one day there was a tragic accident and now he is stuck attending Middle School and now he is a (freak of nature). The mood in the book definitely is probably regular and by regular I mean it just like how our lives are when we go to school, in other words (normal). The lesson throughout the book is to accept people no matter what and that we are all different so make sure to just remember to always be you and not to change for anyone.

In conclusion I really did like this book and I mainly liked this book because you can see different perspectives from people throughout the entire book. Something that I am probably going to remember from the book is the pep ralley in the book because that was a pretty sad and hilarious moment and also a bit embarrassing. I am recommending this book to you because there is always multiple sides of the story and this book definitely is showing you this throughout the entire book. I think that you should go find this book and read this book because it is really interesting and good and I know everyone probably says that but this book is really good and you can maybe relate to some of the situations throughout the book involving all the character. Finally I am recommending this book because it leaves you with a special message and that is to try and accept people no matter what.

Gallery Walk (1/30/15)

World News
1/30/15
Blog of the weekend by: Justin R.

I think that the gallery walk was a success. Although I didn't get to go to everyone I did get a few. I think that it was a nice experience to get to see almost everyones.  I think that some of the articles were stronger than other but I felt like all of them had a message that was important for everyone to hear.

I think that someone with a really strong article was Emily. I think that she had a very strong article because she talked about some of the negatives, for example people say we need some laws because they can be used for spying etc. I also think that it was from a good prospective because in someone else's article it talks about how they are used for good but we must always look at things with both a positive and a negative prospective.

I think that another more strong article was an article about how there is a vaccine that would help cure ebola. This article was about how there were two vaccines that would help with Ebola and how they picked one that was better than the other. I also learned that the workers will get tested first because the African Americans are use to the disease but they wanted to see how some other people would react to it first.
